About Oral GLP-1 Option Review
Could a once-daily tablet be your most practical and sustainable path to clinically meaningful weight loss? The Oral GLP-1 Option Review at Yoyime Clinic introduces Foundayo (Orforglipron), the first once-daily oral GLP-1 receptor agonist approved by the Emirates Drug Establishment for chronic weight management in Dubai. Unlike injectable GLP-1 therapies, Orforglipron is a small-molecule, non-peptide tablet taken once daily at any time, with or without food and requires no refrigeration, making it ideal for needle-averse patients and frequent travelers. Clinical trial data demonstrated an average body weight reduction of approximately 12.4% over 72 weeks. Step-by-Step Procedure - Oral GLP-1 Option Review
Initial Consultation
You will meet with our clinician for a full discussion of your weight history, health goals and preferences. Be it needle-aversion, travel or a wish to transition from an existing injectable therapy, this consultation is the perfect opportunity to explain why an oral option interests you and to have all your questions answered.

Medical History Review
Your clinician will review your full medical history, current medications and relevant personal or family history, including any history of thyroid conditions, pancreatitis or gastrointestinal disease. Eligibility for oral GLP-1 therapy is generally based on a BMI of 30 or above or a BMI of 27 or above together with a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol or type 2 diabetes.

Baseline Blood Work
Before any prescription is issued in this Yoyime’s treatment programme, baseline blood tests and (where available) body composition assessments are carried out or reviewed. This establishes a safe starting point and helps your clinician track fat loss versus muscle preservation as treatment progresses.

Starting Dose
Treatment typically begins with a low starting dose, taken once daily, at the same time each day where possible. The tablet is never crushed, broken or chewed. It is swallowed whole and there are no specific food or water restrictions around taking it.

Gradual Dose Titration
The dose is increased gradually over time, generally at intervals of at least 30 days, allowing your body to adjust and reducing the likelihood of gastrointestinal side effects. Yoyime’s clinician will determine your titration pace and eventual maintenance dose based on your tolerance and response.

Ongoing Monitoring
Regular follow-up appointments, typically monthly, allow your clinician to review your progress, check tolerability and adjust your dose if needed. Missed doses should simply be taken as soon as remembered on the same day. It should never be doubled up to make up for a missed day. Works best when combined with practical nutrition and lifestyle guidance, supporting fat loss while helping to protect lean muscle mass.

Long-Term Review
As you approach your goals, Yoyime’s clinician will discuss long-term plans, including whether to continue, adjust or eventually taper your dose as well as how to maintain your results over time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Oral GLP-1 Option Review
It is Foundayo (orforglipron), a once-daily oral GLP-1 receptor agonist tablet approved by the Emirates Drug Establishment for chronic weight management. It offers a needle-free alternative to injectable GLP-1 medications.
Mounjaro, Wegovy and Ozempic are peptide-based and must be given by weekly injection. Orforglipron is a small-molecule, non-peptide compound, which allows it to be taken as a tablet once daily instead.
It activates the same GLP-1 receptors involved in appetite regulation, helping to reduce hunger, increase feeling of fullness after meals, slow gastric emptying and support more stable blood sugar levels throughout the day.
Eligibility is generally based on a BMI of 30 or above or a BMI of 27 or above with a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol or type 2 diabetes. It may particularly suit those who are needle-averse, travel frequently or want a maintenance option after previous injectable therapy.
No specific food or water restrictions apply and it can be taken at any time of day. It does not require refrigeration. The tablet should be swallowed whole and never crushed, broken or chewed.
On average, injectable tirzepatide (Mounjaro) and semaglutide (Wegovy) have shown somewhat higher average weight loss in clinical trials than Orforglipron. The oral option's main advantage is the convenience and simplicity of a daily tablet rather than a weekly injection.
The most commonly reported side effects are gastrointestinal, including nausea, constipation, diarrhoea, vomiting, indigestion and abdominal discomfort. Headache, fatigue and hair shedding have also been reported. Most side effects are mild to moderate and tend to settle as the body adjusts.
Treatment starts at a low dose and is increased gradually, generally at intervals of at least 30 days, to reduce the likelihood of side effects. Our clinician will set the pace based on your individual tolerance and progress.
Switching is possible but should only be done under clinical guidance. At Yoyime, our clinician will plan the timing based on your last injection, current dose and overall response, taking your full medical picture into account.
It is not suitable for those with a personal or family history of certain thyroid conditions, those with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2, those who are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding and those already using another GLP-1 medication. Caution is also needed with a history of pancreatitis, gallbladder disease or significant gastrointestinal or kidney disease.
Book an initial consultation with Yoyime Clinic. Our clinical team will review your medical history and eligibility, arrange any necessary blood work and help determine whether the oral GLP-1 option is the right fit for your goals.
